Perhaps no other capital has
played such a dominant role in the life of a nation as Budapest. About
two million people or one-fifth of the Hungarian population lives in the
capital. The Danube, which is not blue in spite of the famous waltz, determines
the life of the city of Budapest, dividing it into two halves, and yet
connecting both sides of the city's unfurling districts: with the Buda
hills and the soft inclines of Óbuda on the left bank and the Pest
plains on the right bank add to the city’s diversity. The huge economic
boom in the years after the recent political changes has given a powerful
boost, thus making our capital city a true and completely central European
city. It’s a city where the past and the present can be found alongside
each other, it can clearly seen from buildings and structures from every
age and style. Hence inducing a mood which is equally amazing to visitors
and those who live here.
About Euroavia’s activity in Budapest, Located in the “BUTE”
(Budapest University of Technology and Economics), which is the only university
in Hungary where aeronautical engineers are qualified. In the Faculty
of Transportation (which is also the youngest engineering faculty of BUTE)
two specializations are deal with aerospace: the classic Aircraft-engineering,
and also a unique specialization in a much wider scale: The Air Transportation
course.
From Hungary, Notables like…aeronautical-scientist Theodore von
Kármán, Oszkár Asbóth, sr. Erno Rubik just
to mention a few, has been produced. Before the political changes the
‘Pestvidéki Gépgyár’ (Hungarian company
close to Budapest) was primarily a maintenance repair factory for the
military MiG airplanes, and Mi helicopters beside the Warsaw-convention.
After the changes, these engineering expertise and knowledge sank into
the civil-aviation sector, Recent times has seen the influx of huge aerospace
companies like Lufthansa Technik, and Aeroplex maintenance companies which
are situated in the premises of the main international airport of Hungary
called “Ferihegy airport”. This is also an airport which aims
to be a major hub between the east and west of Europe, also the connection
between the EU and non-EU countries; the fast growing traffic data stands
as an attestment. Our AS also has an outstanding connection to both the
civil, and the military aviation of Hungary, thereby giving us a much
greater advantage to staying very much alive, and attaining a greater
growth and stability in the future ahead.
