Ankara is the capital of Turkey
and located in the central region of Turkey. Here is the place where Turkey's
Independence War was controlled. It has a great cultural and historical
background including the ancient times. Lots of civilizations were settled
here and the Anatolian Civilizations Museum contains very important historical
items collected from all Anatolia. Ankara also has three aviation museums
which have static displays of old aircraft.
It is a pretty city especially for young people with a good nightlife,
entertainment and sports facilities and is one of the tidiest capitals
in the World.
The most important aerospace industry companies are located here such
as TAI. There's an international airport called Esenboga and three military
airfields: one for cargo aircrafts, one for F-16s and the other one is
used especially for helicopters. Not far from you can also find two airfields
owned by Turkish Aeronautical Association, which is very successful worldwide
in air sports such as gliding.
There are a lot of universities, so a lot of young people live here. The
Middle East Technical University was founded in 1956 by the help and wish
of UNESCO. It has a very large campus with a fantastic nature and Eymir
Lake. It is one of the best universities of Turkey, regarding both education
and facilities. The Department of Aerospace Engineering was founded in
1980 as Department of Aeronautical Engineering and it took the name Aerospace
in 2002 by having some extra courses.
